About Scheme :
Under the National Biogas Development Scheme, Central Government grants are given for setting up biogas. For general group, amount is Rs. 14,350/- per plant, Scheduled Caste and Tribe amount is Rs. 22,000/- per plant, if toilet is connected, amount is Rs. 1,600/- per plant. Under Z.P. Cess Fund, a supplementary grant of Rs. 12,000/- per plant is payable. For more information, contact the Agricultural Development Officer at the district level and at the taluka level – Group Development Officer / Agricultural Officer / Extension Officer (Agriculture).
Beneficiary:
Farmers from all categories can take the benefit, but the said beneficiaries should have 2 to 3 animals. Also, the farmer should have a 7/12 certificate of land tenure, 8-A copy in his name.

- Biogas is a good alternative to traditional fuel.
- Good quality organic fertilizer, good compost fertilizer helps in preventing the spread of diseases, pests and weed seeds.
- Helps in preventing air pollution.
- In rural areas, it is a good way to dispose of human excreta, which helps in getting rid of the problem of improper disposal.
- Women are freed from the problem of snoring. It is a good alternative to gas cylinder shortage and also saves money.
- A family of 5 to 6 people can do both cooking, breakfast, and water heating.
- About two gas cylinders are saved per month. Wood is saved and nature is protected.
- Good organic fertilizer is available in the form of slurry.
