    Jal Jeevan Mission

    According to the guidelines published by the Central Government on 25.12.2019, the Central Government is committed to providing water to all households in rural areas of the country according to the “Har Ghar Nal Se Jal” (FHTC-Functionl Household Tap Connection) by 2024. By 2024, the main objective of Jal Jeevan Mission is to provide quality water to every rural household in the state through individual tap connections of at least 55 litres per day.

    Under the Jal Jeevan Mission program, water is expected to be supplied to every family in all Wadia neighborhoods of the district in the state through a phased individual tap. This has been explained in Jal Jeevan Mission guidelines. Similarly, in the annual action plans prepared by the districts, the works of retrofitting and new type of tap water supply schemes have been undertaken for such individual tap connections.

    Corrective reconnection (retrofitting)

    In order to provide 55 liters of water per day per capita from schemes whose conception period or the life of the scheme has not expired and from which the water supply is currently being carried out through communal, public taps, are as follows The action is carried out.

    • Existing schemes which are capable of supplying 55 liters of water per capita per day or, in these schemes it is possible to supply 55 liters of water per capita per day by increasing pumping hours/minor improvements in pumping machinery, In such schemes the work of providing individual tap connections is included in the retrofitting work.
    • In the above villages, the work of extension of distribution channels within the village, if necessary, is also being included in the same retrofitting.

    New Schemes- New schemes are being developed with sustainable sources for villages where tap water supply scheme does not exist.

             At a meeting of the State Cabinet on 08/07/2020, the Central Government-led Jal Jeevan Mission has been implemented in the state. According to this, the goal is to provide every family in rural areas of the state with at least 55 liters per day, quality full water through individual tap connections by 2024. The Jal Jeevan Mission 50:50 per cent will be implemented by the Centre and the State.

    • Action Plan
    • Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, drinking water will be supplied to every household through functional tap connections to provide drinking water security to every family in rural areas of the state. Drinking water quality is expected to be at least Indian standard-BIS:10500.
    • Base line survey has been done to supply water to every house through Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) for the next 4 years.
    • Under the Water Life Mission, every family should be provided with water supply through domestic tap connections by 2024. Accordingly, the Village Action Plan (VAP), District Action Plan (DAP) should be prepared. tHE Action Plan Includes Quarterly Annual Planning Of Planed Domestic Faucet onnectiom and Funds Required For It.

    Implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission

    The water life mission includes the following types of schemes.

    • To provide functional household connections by retrofitting schemes under National Rural Drinking Water Program (NRDWP) to the extent of at least 55 LPCD. Also there are stand post tap water supply schemes in those villages, Retrofitting of earlier schemes to provide domestic functional domestic tap connection from stand post to every family/house in such villages.
    • In case of completed schemes, retrofitting of such schemes to supply at least 55 LPCD instead of 40 LPCD is underway.
    • In villages where abundant potable ground water (or alternative) is available, separate schemes have been undertaken.
    • In villages where abundant ground water (or alternative) is available, but water quality is poor, separate schemes including water purification projects have been undertaken.
    • There are Regional/Village Schemes (Water Grid) for villages where water availability is low.
    • Provide permanent water supply to tribal villages/villages/villages that do not have tap water supply facilities in tribal areas and provide water through functional tap connections to each house. Providing water connection from the scheme for government ashrams, subsidized ashrams, government hostels, anganwadi, etc. Also solar energy based tap water supply schemes are being implemented for isolated/tribal wadis/padas.
